Our school Resource Centre (Library) houses a large range of resources. There is plenty of space and comfortable furniture for the students to come and enjoy books, games, puzzles, and interactive whiteboard activities and to socialise.
Borrowing services
Our students are able to borrow resources from our collection. Students may borrow a picture book or novel each week and must have a library bag to transport books. Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students borrow home readers as well as a book from the general collection at the same time.
Classes have timetabled borrowing times and students are able to borrow before school and during lunch breaks. Students also borrow “good fit” books from the library collection to keep in their classroom book boxes for classroom reading.
Accelerated Reader
Students in Years 4 to 7 and some Year 3 students access the Accelerated Reader collection which includes popular fiction titles levelled and coded to help students select ‘good fit’ books that will suit their individual reading level and interests. Accelerated Reader titles also have an on-line quiz that students complete after reading the book to check their comprehension. Students can also access lists of suggested titles that may suit their reading level through the Accelerated Reader site.
Book Fair
Book Fair is operated from the Library once a year. Students can view books and bring home their ‘wish list’ or you can visit the Book Fair with your child and select any books your child would like to purchase. The School Library receives a percentage of all orders to select books and resources for the school.
