Our community

Strong parent partnerships

  • Class parent information evening sessions run at the beginning of the year to give parents information about the year ahead and classroom routines and expectations.
  • Parents are invited to view displays in the classrooms, Administration block and the Resource Centre featuring student-created products and highlighting the innovative practices within our classrooms.
  • Regular parent communication through school newsletters, class newsletters, communication books, interviews and emails.
  • Inviting parents to learning celebrations, culminating activities or expos planned as part of unit planning.
  • Parent volunteers working in classrooms.
  • Parent workshops and information sessions provided throughout the year.
  • Parent involvement with home reading, homework tasks and school projects.

Parent volunteers are welcome to help with class reading, literacy and maths groups and even art groups. Feel free to discuss how and when you could volunteer with your class teacher.

Grandparents and other community volunteers are also welcome but must hold a valid BlueCard (Working with children check). These are free for volunteers and the school office can assist volunteers with the application process.

Volunteers can also support our students by working in the school tuckshop, supporting fundraising activities such as the Mother’s Day stall and school fairs and assisting with book covering in the school library. If you have some time available and you would like to volunteer leave your details at the office, talk to the tuckshop convenor, email or talk to library staff.
