Mudgeeraba Creek State School is a school where every young learner develops a sense of belonging and is inspired to shape their future. The Teaching and Learning Framework adopted by Mudgeeraba Creek State School is based on the Art and Science of Teaching (ASoT), a pedagogical framework based on the work of Dr Robert Marzano.
We began our professional development journey towards understanding and applying ASoT in 2013.
The Art and Science of Teaching is presented as 10 design questions. Teachers examine each design question to develop their knowledge and skills, as well as reflecting on their current beliefs and practices. Our teachers have worked directly with the Marzano Institute in Australia to explore and deepen their understanding of ASoT.
Every member of staff has their own set of goals to assist them in developing their capability. All teaching staff use ASoT together with The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers to reflect on their capability and work with a professional coach to enhance their practice. Like our students, our staff are encouraged and supported to be true life-long learners.
The school motto, Friendship, Achievement and Respect provides a focus for students, parents, teachers and the school community. To realise this vision, there is an expectation for all teachers to become expert practitioners and a commitment that every day in every classroom, every student is learning and achieving within a safe, supportive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
