Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) touches every aspect of our lives, from our smartphones to the technologies that enable us to explore the world around us and outer space. It also drives innovation in our fast-changing global economy. To succeed in this environment and for Queensland to continue to prosper into the future, our students need a strong foundation in STEM.

At Mudgeeraba Creek our aim for the future of STEM is to continue to engage our young people by integrating education with real-world experiences and opportunities. STEM is not just about playing with robots and developing code for games; we believe that by providing STEM based learning opportunities we are equipping our students with 21st century skills such as problem-solving and collaboration. STEM education it about supporting all students to develop these skills in order to thrive in the modern world of work and throughout their lifelong learning journey to be 'agents of change' in the future.
We have two dedicated STEM teachers supporting all our students from Prep – 6. We continue to develop students' digital literacy skills and interest in STEM by using innovative learning tools like modelling, scenarios and simulations in the classroom. By actively promoting and encouraging participation in STEM, we are giving students the keys to their future and setting them on a path for success.
STEM based competitions/additional programmes we are involved in:
- School based Science competition – July each year
- Gold Coast Science competition – August each year
Current Gold Coast Primary School Science champions for 2023 and have won this competition for the past 12 years
- STAQ (Science Teachers Association Queensland) – October each year
Currently primary school champions for 2023 and have won this competition for the past 9 years
- BHP Science Awards – November entries close
- Robina State High School Science week primary schools excellence workshops throughout the year
- Sistas in STEM - mini conference for Year 6 and 7 female students
- STEM Garden Club
- ICT Young Explorers – Years 4,5,6 – August
- Premiers Coding challenge – September each year
- Digital/Robotics Club - one lunchtime a week throughout the year
