Japanese
Languages study is a mandated part of the primary curriculum in Queensland state schools. In 2018 the specialist Japanese teacher introduced Japanese language and cultural studies in Prep classes and extended this to Year 1 in 2019 and Years 2 and 3 in 2020. All year levels are now involved in the Japanese language programme and having specialist lessons in Japanese.
The Queensland Government is actively supporting schools to develop languages programmes. Parents can read more about this initiative at Global schools through languages (PDF, 1.6MB).
Languages pathways beyond primary languages study
Our students can have the opportunity to continue Japanese beyond primary school as it is the language taught at Robina State High School where significant numbers of our students choose to complete high school. Robina State High School also offers a Japanese Immersion Programme in junior secondary which attracts many of our students who achieve good language proficiency.
